Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, accessing, or using Likeable ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

You must be at least 16 years of age to use Likeable. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

2. Description of Service

Likeable is an AI-powered speaking practice app designed to help users improve their charisma, confidence, and communication skills. The core service includes:

• Impromptu speaking sessions with randomized topics (up to 5 minutes each)
• Audio recording and transcription of your speech
• AI-generated analysis and feedback on speaking metrics including charisma, filler words, speaking pace, pauses, and clarity
• Progress tracking through streaks, weekly completions, and historical session data
• Public leaderboard for comparing speaking performance with other users
• Optional premium subscription for additional features

3. User Accounts

To use Likeable, you must create an account using one of our supported sign-in methods:

• Apple Sign-In
• Google Sign-In
• Email (magic link authentication)

Each person may maintain only one account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. Audio Recording & Transcription

Likeable records audio during speaking sessions. Important details about how your audio is handled:

• User-initiated only: Audio recording begins only when you explicitly start a speaking session.
• Cloud transcription: Audio is sent securely to our server infrastructure for transcription using OpenAI GPT-4o-mini via Supabase Edge Functions. Audio is processed in real-time and is not stored on our servers after transcription is complete.
• Local storage only: Audio recordings are stored locally on your device and are never permanently uploaded to the cloud. Only transcripts and analysis results are stored in our cloud database.

5. AI-Powered Analysis

Likeable uses artificial intelligence to analyze your speaking sessions and provide feedback. Please understand that:

• AI analysis is provided for educational and self-improvement purposes only and does not constitute professional coaching, therapy, or medical advice.
• Charisma scores, clarity scores, and other metrics are estimates generated by AI models and may not be perfectly accurate.
• Analysis quality may vary depending on audio quality, background noise, and other factors.
• Both transcription and analysis are performed using OpenAI GPT-4o-mini via our cloud infrastructure (Supabase Edge Functions).

6. Subscriptions and Payments

6.1 Subscription

Likeable offers a subscription ("Likeable Premium") available for purchase through the Apple App Store.

6.2 Free Trial

Yearly subscription plans include a 3-day free trial. During the trial period, you have full access to premium features at no cost. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid yearly plan. You can cancel the trial at any time through your device's App Store settings.

6.3 Billing and Renewal

• Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID account via the App Store
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period
• Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
• You can manage and cancel your subscription in your device's App Store settings

6.4 Refunds

All subscription payments are processed by Apple. Refund requests must be directed to Apple through their standard refund process. We do not process refunds directly.

7. Leaderboard

7.1 Voluntary Submission

Likeable includes a public leaderboard where users can share their speaking session results. Submitting to the leaderboard is entirely voluntary and requires explicit confirmation before publishing.

7.2 Public Visibility

When you submit a session to the leaderboard, the following information becomes publicly visible to all Likeable users:

• Your charisma score
• Your speech transcript
• Your display name (or "Anonymous" if you choose anonymous submission)
• Your analysis data (filler words, pace, pauses, clarity)

7.3 Anonymous Submission

You may choose to submit your session anonymously. When submitted anonymously, your display name will appear as "Anonymous" on the leaderboard.

7.4 Content Standards

Leaderboard submissions must comply with the User Conduct rules in Section 8. We reserve the right to remove any leaderboard submission that violates these standards.

7.5 Deletion

You may request removal of your leaderboard submissions at any time. Leaderboard data is also deleted as part of full account deletion.

8. User Conduct

You agree to use Likeable only for its intended purpose of speaking practice and self-improvement. You shall not:

• Use the App to create, record, or distribute harmful, abusive, or illegal content
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our servers or databases
• Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair our services
• Circumvent any security features or usage limits
• Submit offensive, hateful, or inappropriate content to the leaderboard
• Manipulate or game leaderboard rankings through fraudulent submissions

9. Intellectual Property

Your content: You retain full ownership of your speech, audio recordings, and any content you create while using the App. By using Likeable, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process your audio and transcript data solely for the purpose of providing the analysis service. For leaderboard submissions, you grant us a license to display the submitted content publicly to other users.

Our content: The App, its design, code, AI models, speaking topics, and all related intellectual property are owned by Likeable and protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws.

10. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained for as long as your account remains active. You may request full account deletion at any time, which will:

• Permanently delete your profile and all associated data
• Remove all speaking session records, transcripts, and analysis results
• Delete streak data, weekly completions, and progress history
• Remove any feedback or bug reports you've submitted
• Delete all leaderboard submissions

Account deletion is a cascade operation — all associated data is removed from our systems. Local data (audio recordings, preferences) should be deleted by removing the App from your device.

11. Limitation of Liability

Likeable is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

We are not liable for:

• The accuracy of AI-generated analysis, scores, or feedback
• Any decisions you make based on the App's analysis
• Loss of data due to device failure or service interruptions
• Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes through the App or via email. Your continued use of Likeable after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Likeable at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately, though you may still request deletion of your data.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Likeable shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation before pursuing any formal legal proceedings.
